In North Denver and beyond Betty Luce is well known among clients and colleagues for her integrity, loyalty and professionalism. After 20 years with Nostalgic Homes, she is now proud to be a part of Nostalgic Homes Group|COMPASS. She has been honored by the Denver Metro Association of Realtors with an Award of Excellence for top producers in 18 of those 20 years.
Betty’s Real Estate business spans the metro area, and over the years she has represented retirees and first-time buyers, countless move-up buys and sells, builders and remodelers and a new condo development. But her primary focus has been assisting clients, young and old, through life transitions and on the way to home ownership. Most of all, she loves working with her clients who become her friends. She finds it profoundly challenging and satisfying to help them attain their goals.
Betty has lived and worked in North Denver since 1990 and has seen the neighborhood emerge as a Denver “hot spot”. A steady influx of young professionals has been drawn to the neighborhood by its vintage charm, its proximity to downtown Denver and its affordability. She is proud of the tradition of Nostalgic Homes Group, which was the first to see the potential of the neighborhood in 1985 and led in spearheading the revitalization and restoration of the vintage homes and neighborhoods.
She has long been fascinated by old houses and the process involved in updating them to a modern and livable condition while preserving vintage charm. Her first “save” was in the ‘70’s, an 1850 Second Empire Victorian built by a riverboat captain. She purchased it on a Sheriff’s tax Sale for $7,000! Today she loves working with clients to identify antique properties and help them navigate the process of restoration and continuing maintenance. She is considered an expert in selling vintage homes.
Betty has been an effective advocate for the neighborhood, having attended countless hearings and city council meetings to speak up for right zoning, neighborhood context and historic preservation. She has helped several clients, including her church, navigate the process of renovating properties protected by a Historic Landmark.
She participated in founding two non-profits; Bethany House which provided affordable housing for persons with AIDS, and St. Elizabeth’s School, an Episcopal K-8 independent school, now in its 15th year of serving students of ethnic and socioeconomic diversity. She has been Vice President of the Board of Trustees of the school since its beginning. She is a longtime member of Historic Denver.
Betty works closely with her husband George, recently retired from active real estate. He is an invaluable asset to the team in terms of experience, perspective and support. His professional experience in marketing and his common-sense approach and counsel in managing a transaction are important contributions to her success. She is the proud mother of two sons, one a recently retired USAF Colonel who is now enrolled in the American Culinary Institute in San Antonio, the other a professional in audio/visual integration, having designed and supervised the installation of communication systems in numerous Denver headquarters buildings, art galleries, and government buildings. He serves as Betty’s technical advisor. She is grateful for the love and support of her family.
Betty has been a prolific amateur chef and hostess for most of her adult life, with strong experience in interior design, antiques, and gardening. She loves nothing more than presenting a well-staged home for sale and brings a lifetime of experience in creating beautiful spaces. It is her great pleasure to help her young clients find the best resources for their new homes. She is equally happy to lend her expertise to sellers as they prepare their homes for the transition. She has an impressive network of resources to fulfill her client’s wants and needs.
Whether you are looking for a signature Victorian, a Craftsman Bungalow or a Tudor…or perhaps a vintage downtown loft… or your first small house or condo, Betty is ready to show you listings with an eye to your particular taste and requirements.
