Selling A Victorian on a Snowy Weekend...

House for Sale— $385,000

890 Victorian, 3 beds, 2 baths, 1180 SF

We had a shared vision with our clients of selling this house to another young couple who could take it to the next level....instead of to a “flipper”. So we priced it to sell, considering the work that needs to be done. Re- stored houses like this are selling for +/- $475,000 in the neighborhood.

I’ve asked my client to tell you about what transpired this last weekend - “14 years ago with a four week babe and arms we packed up our condo into a Penske truck and lived at my husbands work for three weeks (sleeping bags on the third floor of a big old house) while our dream house was made ready. It needed a furnace and hot water heater and all the plumbing redone. We moved in three weeks later in March of 2006 and said to each other “Well you only do something that crazy once!” Well...on Thursday morning I called Betty and the listing went live at 12:42 and at 1 PM the first potential buyers arrived to see the house.

Thank goodness for good neighborhood restaurants! Seven showings were done by 8pm Thursday evening when we called it done for the day.

That was exciting, but when DPS canceled school for Friday due to road conditions we were in ‘uh oh’ mode!

Hubby Joe packed up 5 of the 6 family members (Me, kids, and our dog, Ralph- we let Jeremy the turtle stay home ) and we ended up at his work for the day...AGAIN. I can’t tell you the number of buried memories that climbed out as I remembered hanging with baby Xandra at Joe’s work 14 years ago. We laid on the floor playing trivia crack and battleship and watching Netflix till late afternoon. We called it a day with a total of 10 viewings that day, happy to be home and off the snowy roads for a little while.

Saturday we once again piled into the car to hang around town together as a family. Finding places out of the snow to take a 55lb dog was the most challenging part. He is squirmy jumping from ‘let’s cuddle’ to ‘let’s jump on the gear shift’ with speed any parent of a toddler can appreciate.

Turns out selling is just as memorable as buying!

3 days, 23.5 hours of family bonding time around town, 10 inches of snow, 36 showings, 1 great
